Romulus and Remus
Romulus and Remus were twin boys, and the sons of Mars. As babies their evil uncle took them and left them next to the River Tiber to die. However, soon after they were left there, a she-wolf picked the twins up and raised them as her own.
After a few years of being raised by the wolf a shepherd found them and brought them to his home to be raised by himself and his wife. As they grew older Romulus and Remus decided that they didn't want to be shepherds but kings, and so they located the place where they would build their kingdom.
As Rome grew, Romulus and Remus squabbled over who should have more power. In his fury, Romulus killed Remus with a rock.
As Rome evolved from a Monarchy into a Republic and eventually into an Empire, the people of Rome considered Romulus and Remus the founders of their great city.
